Children with Special Needs

Children with mental illness and developmental problems such as autism participate with other children in Kindermusik programs across America.

Children with physical handicaps, developmental delays and other disabilities make huge strides through their Kindermusik classes.

Kindermusik Home Materials

Family involvement in a child's learning is fundamental to the Kindermusik philosophy that the parent is the child's most important teacher and the home is the most important environment for a child's learning to take root and grow. To extend learning at home, all Kindermusik curricula includes the highest quality "At Home" materials, including music CD's, specially designed instruments, children's literature from the Kindermusik library and engaging activities for parent and child.

We love for parents to "visit" before or after class, but not during class time, please! When you are an active, focused, enthusiastic participant in the class activities, your child will model your actions and focus more fully too.

You and your child will benefit enormously from the Kindermusik experience, especially if you make active use of your "At Home" materials. Frequent reinforcement at home throughout the week makes all the difference in a child's comfort and participation in the classroom.

Each Kindermusik class is a world of discovery and adventure. In every class, you'll witness your child's developmental evolution in language skills, literacy, listening, problem solving, social skills, self-esteem and musicality. And it all happens within a nuturing environment - full of energy, imagination, music, dancing and playful delight.

By adding new concepts and challenges along the way, each age appropriate program acts as a stepping stone to the next - paving the way to a musical journey tht can last seven magnificent, musical years.

For newborn to 1 1/2 years
Imagine your child swinging softly in a blanket or dancing with you around a maypole. Kindermusik Village provides a delightful environment unlike any other...an engaging experience of learning and bonding with your baby. Through a unique blend of multi-level activities that includes creative movement, vocal play, object and instrument exploration, and a colorful literature component, your baby's growth and development are stimulated and all of his senses engaged. For ages 1 1/2 to 3 years
Can you make a sound like an elephant? Or hop up and down like a bunny? Kindermusik Our Time encourages your child to uncover an engaging musical world while building confidence, self-control and communication skills. Singing, imitating sounds, rhyming and object identification help foster language skills.Creative movement to various musical "moods" develops a sense of balance, timing and spacial awareness. Listening and turn-taking activities encourage blossoming social skills.Summer 2005 Program

For ages 3 to 5 years
Today he's a cowboy or an artist. Tomorrow she's a doctor or a musician. Kindermusik Imagine That! Takes you and your child on an incredible musical journey of discovery and exploration... a journey that is limited only by the power of imagination. Singing becomes a focus for enhancing your preschooler's vocal developent as her expressive language is just beginning to emerge. Pretend play activities are integrated with music, vocal development, storytelling, movement and literature to capture your child's potential to learn and to encourage her cognitive and literacy skills, creativity and individuality. For ages 4 1/2 to 7 years
Listen as your child astonishes you with his or her newfound ability to create musical compositions. Kindermusik for the Young Child provides a pressure free, developmentally appropriate transition to musically succeed before taking on more formal instruction. Kindermusik provides the opportunity to explore voice development, rhythm, notation, musical symbols and authentic pre-keyboard, string and woodwind instruments. Kindermusik Young Child helps every child develop a confident, joyful voice for singing and speaking as well as essential building blocks for a future of learning. Designed for children ages 4 1/2 through 7 years, classes meet once a week for 60-75 minutes. Students explore many facets of the musical experience speaking, singing, moving, dancing, listening, creating and playing instruments, as well as learning about reading and writing music. As the capstone to the child's Kindermusik Journey, this program broadens and deepens the child's introduction to the fulfillment and excitement of musicianship. Summer 2005 Program

Creatures in My Backyard	Parent and child are encouraged to explore their backyard environment through music, movement, dance, storytelling and instruments. Ages 18 mos to 3
Creatures at the Ocean	Parent and child are introduced to many waterfront friends through music, movement, dance, storytelling and instruments. Ages 18 mos to 3
Around the World	Take an imaginary trip exploring exotic cultures through music, dance, drama and instruments native to each country. Ages 4-7
Near and Far	Explore and appreciate unique environments all over the globe through imaginative activities using music and movement. Ages 4-7

Making the Most of Kindermusik Classes

Please plan to arrive about 5-10 minutes early for class. Arriving a little before class provides time for your child to settle in to the musical environment as they prepare to enjoy exploring instruments, reading books, or listening to music. We do request that toys, juice cups, and pacifiers be kept out of sight, and that snacks be finished prior to class. Be sure to dress comfortably.

During class, the most important thing you can do for your child is to be an active and patient role model. It is not uncommon for a child to attend several classes before feeling comfortable in class. Don't be discouraged, what a child is absorbing in class is often evidenceed in the comfort of the home environment rather than in a certain level of participation in class. The understanding and consisency of the parent or caregiver in class and at home are key to facilitating musical learning and growth.
