Governing Board Minutes

Call to Order:  Vice President Jason Hoffman called the meeting to order at 6:34 p.m. In attendance were Casey Fluegge, Kevin Kelley, Jason Hoffman, Wendi Canada, Barb Miles, Marv Rohn, Bruce Amendt, Ann Zimmermann, and Pastor Burcham.

Not present was President Mark Kramer.

Visitor Recognition:  Mark Gerken from Iowa District West was present to discuss the relationship between Gloria Dei and Iowa District West. Laura Rath was present as recording secretary.

Consent Agenda:

• The minutes from the August 16, 2011 meeting were accepted by consensus.
• After discussion, the financial report was accepted by consensus.

Senior Pastor Report:

• Pastor Burcham gave an update of the work being done with Auxano Navigator Bill Donahue. The team will meet again on Monday, September 19.
• Pastor Burcham gave an update of the work being done by the four multi-site MATs, and the tentative communication plan for everything coming up this fall.
• Pastor Burcham gave an overview of what would be discussed at the Governing Board Retreat planned for Sept. 16-17.

Current Action Items:
Congregational Listening Post – Nothing was heard to discuss.

Vote Subcommittee – Mark Kramer, Marv Rohn, and Barb Miles agreed to serve on the vote subcommittee in preparation for a congregational vote before the end of the year. Marv Rohn will recruit a MAT.

Housekeeping:

a. Future Topic - Gloria Dei Foundation – will meet after Sept. 1.

b. Future Meetings

i. Sept. 16-17, 2011 Governing Board Annual Retreat

ii. Oct. 11, 2011 Governing Board Meeting (Materials due Oct. 6)
