 November 14, 2006 Meeting Minutes

Pastor Burcham opened the meeting with prayer.

Call to Order

  President Kesse called the meeting to order at 6:35 p.m. Those in attendance were Shawn Woolman, Ken Wunsch, Scott Snyder, Doug Pals, Kevin Kelley, Lorrie Graaf, Deb Kesse, and Marvin Rohn.

Monitoring Affirmation

  Senior Pastor Report

• In October, Pastor Burcham began a two year Pastoral Leadership Institute- Governance and Executive Training Program.
• The annual stewardship campaign is underway.
• A communication plan that will provide a one year update of the Strategic Planning process is currently being developed and will be in place by December.
• Plans are being finalized for a return trip to Uganda scheduled to be made December 31 – January 9. While in Uganda , representatives from Gloria Dei will help lead a worship/preaching conference and meet with a seminary student the congregation will help support.

Consent Agenda

The minutes of the October 17, 2006 meeting were by consensus.

Following a brief discussion, the financial report was approved by consensus.

Ends

Board members spent a majority of the meeting discussing ends statements. Scott Snyder and Doug Pals will take the ideas that were generated and will develop the first draft of an over-arching ends statement. The draft will be presented during the December meeting.

Future Meetings

Due to schedule conflicts of several board members, the December Governing Board meeting will be held December 5, rather than the 12 th . The members will continue work on the ends statements during the meeting.

Housekeeping

As part of a team building effort, the Board briefly discussed excerpts from the tool Now, Discover Your Strengths . A more detailed discussion will be held in December.

Following discussion on other needs, the Board agreed a next step to enhance relationships could be through participation in a class that would help each member discover his or her spriritual gifts.

Following the recitation of the Lord's Prayer, the meeting was adjourned at 9:10 p.m.
